PINCKNEY, MI — Gonen Corp. and project lead Marusich Architecture have officially unveiled the concept master site plan for the Pinckney Commonwealth Campus at 935 M-36. Located on the former Pinckney Olde Elementary School site, the multi-faceted development aims to establish a sustainable, multi-generational community hub combining diverse housing options, eco-friendly agriculture, and public recreation spaces.
Designed to foster connection, wellness, and local resilience, the proposed campus features:
- Senior Independent Living: A three-story residential building offering 680 sq. ft. individual units, accompanied by 155 total parking spaces (77 expanded, 78 existing) and a 30′ x 30′ community clubhouse.
- Workforce & Merchant Housing: Three-story housing structures designed to accommodate local merchants, workers, and their families, providing accessible housing within walking distance to local amenities.
- Sustainable Farming Operations: Over 5 acres dedicated to agricultural production, including Phase 2 farming sectors (4.2 acres and 0.8 acres) and an indoor farm designed to supply fresh, locally grown produce to the community through a roadside market stand.
- Community & Environmental Integration: An elevated riverwalk extending over adjacent wetlands and floodplains along Honey Creek, connecting the campus directly to the Pinckney City Center, alongside landscaped/hardscaped public access corridors and dedicated green buffers.
”Our goal with the Pinckney Commonwealth Campus is to harmonize modern innovation with ecological stewardship,” said a representative for Gonen Corp. “By integrating senior, workforce, and merchant housing directly with sustainable farming and walkable community infrastructure, we are creating a living laboratory and inclusive neighborhood where residents can thrive.”
The master plan, developed in partnership with Michigan-based Marusich Architecture, is currently in the planning stage pending official site plan and development approvals from the Village of Pinckney.
