Inside The Fishery at Pinckney Commonwealth

The Future of Advanced, Eco-Conscious Aquaculture

At the Pinckney Commonwealth Campus, we are redefining how the Midwest accesses fresh seafood. The Fishery is our state-of-the-art aquaculture facility, engineered to raise premium, healthy fish in a highly controlled, sustainable environment.

Operating entirely on land at our Pinckney, Michigan campus, The Fishery avoids the environmental hazards of open-ocean net pens and the depletion of wild stocks. Instead, we use cutting-edge, closed-loop water systems to produce clean, nutrient-dense fish for local retailers, farm-to-table restaurants, and individual families.

Clean Water, Superior Fish: How We Farm

The secret to the exceptional quality and flavor of our fish lies in our revolutionary water management. Our facility is designed around a zero-waste, circular philosophy:

  • Pure, Closed-Loop Systems: Our fish are raised in Recirculating Aquaculture Systems (RAS). The water is continuously filtered, oxygenated, and purified, ensuring a pristine habitat completely free of mercury, microplastics, and environmental pollutants.
  • No Antibiotics or Hormones: Because we strictly control our bio-secure environment, our fish grow naturally and healthily without the need for artificial hormones, preventative antibiotics, or harsh chemicals.
  • The Aquaponics Connection: Nutrient-rich water from The Fishery is naturally filtered and funneled directly to The Gardens to fertilize our crops, showcasing a perfect example of our campus’s circular economy.

From Our Tanks to Your Table

By focusing on species that thrive in modern aquaculture systems, The Fishery provides a hyper-local source of high-quality protein to the region.

  • For Chefs & Restaurants: We offer regional culinary partners a consistent, year-round supply of incredibly fresh, sustainably raised fish that can go from our campus to their kitchens within hours.
  • For Retailers & Grocers: We provide a transparently sourced product that aligns with the growing consumer demand for traceable, eco-friendly food.
  • For Individuals: Community members can purchase premium fillets directly from the campus, knowing exactly where, how, and by whom their food was raised.

An Educational and Investment Hub

The Fishery isn’t just a production facility; it’s an active branch of The Learning Center. Here, students and future agriscience professionals gain hands-on training in the fields of aquatic biology, water chemistry, and sustainable facility engineering.

As one of the six core pillars supporting the Pinckney Commonwealth Campus, The Fishery represents a highly scalable, tech-driven venture. By joining us as a Reg CF shareholder, your investment directly backs the infrastructure powering the future of sustainable protein.
