PINCKNEY, MI — The Pinckney Commonwealth Campus has announced a new concept plan to transform the former Pinckney Olde Elementary School property into a vibrant, multi-generational hub featuring diverse housing models and sustainable agriculture. To gather community input on the project, Pinckney Commonwealth Campus has launched a local survey focused on residential preferences and needs.
The proposed concept plan aims to revitalize the historic property through a combination of tailored housing options and environmental stewardship:
- Senior Independent Living: Modern, accessible housing designed to support local seniors who wish to live independently within a connected community setting.
- Merchant Housing: An innovative live-work model where residents can operate retail stores or small businesses directly within their homes, supporting local entrepreneurship and neighborhood vitality.
- Workforce Housing: Two-bedroom residences designed to provide accessible living options with scenic views overlooking Honey Creek.
- Sustainable Farming: The former school building and grounds are planned to be repurposed into a sustainable farming facility, providing eco-friendly agricultural resources and community education.
Representatives from the Pinckney Commonwealth Campus will present the concept plan to the Pinckney Village Council to detail the project’s vision and community benefits.
”We want to ensure this development directly reflects the needs and desires of Pinckney residents,” said a Joseph Malik for the Pinckney Commonwealth Campus. “Community input is essential as we refine our vision for workforce, merchant, and senior housing.”
